Why Should I Attend This Course?
Design Thinking and Facilitation are skills that are extremely important in paving one’s career and success in life. This is more prevalent especially when we are living in this Era where there seems to be changes happening every minute and second. Living in this Volatile, Uncertain, Complex and Ambiguous (VUCA) world may seem to be challenging and thus, both Design Thinking and facilitation is necessary as these are soft skills and tools that helps us with problem solving.

Design Thinking
According to the Harvard Business School, the main value of Design Thinking is that it brings about a defined process for innovation. While trial and error is a good way to test and experiment what works and what doesn’t, however, it can be time-consuming, expensive, and ultimately not effective at all or to some extent. Additionally, following the fixed steps of Design Thinking is a more efficient way to develop innovative, and new solutions.

As of Decemebr 2021, the most occupations requiring Design Thinking skills were executives, marketing managers, graphic designers, industrial engineers, software developers, general and operations managers, management analysts, personal service managers, architectural and engineering managers, computer and information systems managers.

In addition, jobs that require Design Thinking statistically have higher salaries. Take a marketing manager position, for example. The median annual salary is $107,900.

Marketing manager job postings that require design thinking skills, however, have a median annual salary of $133,900 and this is a clear 24 percent increase. Businesses are looking for talents with Design Thinking skills. As of November 2021, there were 29,648 job postings in the United States advertising design thinking as a necessary skilland this is a 153 percent increase from November 2020, and a 637 percent increase from November 2017.

As businesses continue to recognize the need for design thinking and innovation, they’ll likely create more demand for employees with those skills.

Facilitation
Facilitation helps to resolve conflicts, makes progresses in meetings and discussions and also inspires success. Firstly, facilitators can use their facilitation skills to improve encourage communication and resolve conflicts. Helping team members work together and avoid issues can reduce conflict in the workplace. Facilitation can reduce the time the team spends on resolving complex problems as well as heavily debated issues.

Facilitation also encourages and motivates others to speak up so that everyone can contribute in different ways. Facilitation also helps to engage employees, team members and increase their professional happiness.

What is Design Thinking?
Design Thinking is a much more conscious approach and mindset to innovation and problem solving anchored around human - centered design. It has been prevalent many thousand of years back, but it only gained traction in the modern business world after Tim Brown, CEO and president of design company IDEO, published an article about it in the Harvard Business Review.

What is Facilitation?
Facilitator skills are skills that we require and can use to encourage teamwork and help a group of professionals or team members achieve their end goal or simply be successful in one way or the other. These skills include abilities that allow us to efficiently create new opportunities and use resources productively. If we are a growing facilitator or interested in becoming one, learning more about these skills can be useful.
