Why Should I Attend This Course?
According to an extensive research done by the Boston University , one fifth of the planet speaks Chinese. Mandarin Chinese is the mother tongue of over 873 million people, making it the most widely spoken first language in the world. In addition to the People’s Republic of China and Taiwan, Mandarin Chinese is also spoken in the important and influential Chinese communities of Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, the Philippines, and Mongolia.
International businesses prefer to hire people who speak more than one language. China has become a huge market, and business leaders are looking for people who can speak Chinese and operate successfully in a Chinese cultural context. Knowing Chinese may give you an edge when competing for an important position. China will play a major role in world affairs in the future. As China now has opened up to the West, there are opportunities for employment in all areas.
Through our Intermediate Mandarin Literacy Course (IMLC), we will equip attendees with the required skill, in which they can independently utilise mandarin in their work. Moreover, through the lectures and the group activities that are embedded throughout the course, we will also equip attendees with the supporting skills and proficiency to converse, read and write simple and yet common Chinese Characters.
Towards the end of the course, there will be a check-out test in which attendees will have the chance to be a qualified individual who is literate in Intermediate Mandarin, upon passing the test. Participants of the Intermediate Mandarin Literacy Course will also be entitled and encouraged to attend the Advanced Mandarin Literacy Course (AMLC) if he or she showcases talent and interests in learning the language to a deeper extent.
